The CEEV – Comité Européen des Entreprises Vins is the representative body of the EU industry and trade in Wines: still wines, aromatised wines, sparkling wines, liqueur wines and other vine products. Its membership comprises 22 national associations.
With more than € 5,5 billion annual exports, the EU wine industry contributes to a surplus of € 3 billion to the EU balance of trade.
The European companies we represent play an active role in the economies of the wine-growing regions. Our members actually cultivate vineyards and/or enjoy privileged relationships with producers, supporting local viticultural economies by buying grapes and wines. Through their know-how, they provide added value to wine products on their different markets worldwide and sustainable outlets consistent with consumer expectations.
The CEEV aims to promote the position of Wine Culture in Europe and all around the world as well as the sustainable development of the sector:
savoir-vivre , responsible moderate consumption, quality, competitiveness, and balance between tradition and future.
EU Trade, taxation, Wine Common Market Organisation, food safety, consumer protection, market access, intellectual property protection and public health policies are some of the major issues addressed by the CEEV. Its role, through efficient networking, is to monitor these issues in order to enable the sector to hold a permanent and constructive dialogue with the European institutions and other international organisations.
CEEV demands more coherent and flexible European policies allowing the supply side on the different markets to be optimised. Promoting the quality and competitiveness of wine products, and achieving a balance between tradition and future, are at the very heart of the debate.
The European wine industry will be strengthened if we can enhance the image and identity of wine in our societies and improve the competitiveness of companies so that they can conquer new commercial markets.
